This is a mood piece to me, its not all taboo to really push the color. Like a new chapter cover or spread, that sets the mood for the rest of the chapter.
Again, nice work dude!
I was trying to create a colour contrast between her skin and her surroundings... which is the main reason that everything else is cool colours. I'm taking from your comment that it worked out alright.
I'm a little wary about going nuts with the colour. For the most part, my experience with heavily saturated colours hasn't turned out too well (something to work on, I guess). Another thing is the shading technique I'm using... it really only works well with light, desaturated colours underneath, which eventually become the highlights. It's quick and painless, but it doesn't lend itself to bold colours. I'll try to figure something out, though.
(Thanks, Shay!)
I'm having trouble placing exactly where the light source is supposed to be, based on the shadows. Maybe that's my problem, though.
Shadows are pretty sharp considering that it's supposed to be a really dismal winter day, with an overcast sky. Actually it's the kinda day that sort of washes all the color out of everything, doesn't it? (See point one.)
